The last time I knitted was late January 2020. I know this because I’d begun to knit a pair of grey cabled fingerless gloves in soft merino wool at my Mum’s request.

Less than three weeks later, my Mum died unexpectedly and that knitting project remained unfinished.

I decided I couldn’t bring myself to pick up knitting needles again.
