Viśokā vā Jyotișmatī – Sutra 1.36
As I write this, we’re on the cusp of the Winter Solstice here in the UK (taking place this year on Friday 22nd December).
To mark the shortest day and longest night of the year I’m sharing a meditation that, if you’ve practised yoga with me over the years or been following me for a while, you may have received from me before.
Viśokā = blissful
vā = or
jyotișmatī = the supreme light
If you’re feeling the weight of this past year you’re not alone. At times like this it can be easy to succumb to despair and fear and to forget the light within – the light which Yoga Sutra 1.36 reminds us we all possess – which allows us to spread goodness.
When you feel unsettled, try this simple meditation to remind you of your inner light, which is beyond all fear and worry.
